Malai Kofta

Paneer Balls served with Smooth, Rich & Creamy Gravy.


For the Koftas:

  • 3-4 boiled potatoes

  • 1 cup Paneer (cottage cheese

  • 1 tbsp chopped green chillies

  • 1 & 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • 2-3 tbsp cornflour

  • Oil- for frying


Mix all the above ingredients except the oil and make them in medium size balls and fry them in medium hot oil , when they are well fried take them out on a paper towel and keep them aside.

For the Gravy:

  • Butter- 3 tbsp + 2 tbsp

  • 1 cup sliced onions

  • 1 & 1/2 cup diced tomatoes

  • 3 tbsp cashew nuts

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 3/4 tsp red chilli powder

  • 1 tsp coriander powder

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1/2 tsp cumin(zeera) powder

  • Cream - 2 tbsp

  • 1 tsp of caraway seeds (shahzeera)

  • 1 inch cinnamon stick

  • 3-4 cloves

  • 3-4 cardamom


  • In a pan melt the butter, then add the onions sauté them till they caramalise a bit then,

  • Add the whole spices (shahzeera, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves) then

  • Add the tomatoes and the spices to it and cook well till the tomatoes become mushy.

  • Then add cashews to it and cook till they become soft.

  • Cool down the mixture and then grind it into a fine paste.

Now in another pan melt 2 tbsp of butter to it add the Grinded tomato paste and cook for a

3-4 mins, then add the cream mix well cook for 2 mins and garnish with coriander leaves/ cilantro


While serving place the koftas in a serving dish and then pour the gravy on top and drizzle with cream, never put the kofta’s in the curry and keep them
